Under 1,000 remain in besieged mosque

As the standoff between Pakistani troops and Islamists at Islamabad’s Lal Masjid, or Red Mosque, entered its third day, senior government officials said fewer than 1,000 men and women remained holed up inside the mosque and seminary complex, from where as many as 1,200 Islamists had surrendered since Wednesday morning.
