PESHAWAR • Various Pakistani political leaders have strongly condemned the government action at Lal Masjid and said it was a complete failure of the rulers, who wanted to prolong their illegitimate rule by creating uncertainty in the country.

“This action of the government is shameful, terrifying and cowardly. The people, whose motto was Jihad-fi-Sabeelillah and whose work was to fight against enemies, have been used against their own citizens since Gen Musharraf took power,” said Sirajul Haq, president of Jamaat-e-Islami, NWFP.
