Act of 295-c is a sword of Death for Christians.

(ccnews-portal) The act of 295-c was passed in 1986 by the president General Zia-Ul-Haq. According to this act if any one say any word against Islam or Hazrat Mohammad , he or she will be sentenced to death. It is called “Blasphemy”

Unfortunately, this act has been using wrongly since its promulgation. It is Christian community that is highly effected by this act. So there are many evidence that Muslims used this act of 295-c for their personal enmity and revenge. Many innocent have been killed and many have been jailed. The extremist Muslims kill the accused of Blasphemy before he or she goes to jail . In 4^th September,1999 one Judge “Justice Mian Nazirr Akhtar” from Lahore High court said while presiding the secession of “International Serat Forum” that accused of Blasphemy is killable ( It is imposed on Muslims to kill that accused ) and there is no need of any law.

So Christians consider 295-c a sword of death for them.

From 1991 to till now round about 18 cases have been reported to court. May have been killed before they are charged by court.

Five Christians Tahir Iqbal, waseem Masih, Bantoo Massih, Namat Ahmar and Manzoor Masih were killed even before the court decision was taken.

In 1993 Tahir Iqbal was accused Blasphemy only because he left Islam and embarrassed Christianity. Waseem Masih who was also accused of Blasphemy ,he was given poison in the jail in 1991.Bantoo Masih was also killed in the same case in 1991 in police station by one so-called Muslim. In 1991 chand Barkat from city of Karachi was also jiled in the same case. In 1992 one Christian teacher was also jailed.

Salamat Masih ,Manzoor Masih and Rahamt masih were likked by the firing of extremist Muslims while they were in police custody. Similarly many cases have been occurred .

Rev.Fr.Francis Nadeem, Bishop Alexander Malik , Bishop Azraih , Shahabaz Bhatti (Leader of Christian Minorities) and many other Christian leaders and Protestant Pastors have make request for the eradication of this act.

Ex-President Banazir Bhatto and President Pervaiz Musharraf have condemned this act of 295-c

In 1988 and 1993 the reign of Lady President Banazir bhatto took admirable step and tried to eradicate this act but the Muslims including most powerful personalities protested this policy and didn’t let her to change this act.Remember that Ex-President Banazir Bhatto called it religious terrorism and called 295-c act against the Human rights.

Similarly the reign of President Pervaiz Musharaaf has brought hope to Christians in the respect of 295-c .

President Pervaiz Musharraf (http://www.wwrn.org/article.php?idd=7542&sec=36&con=26) also tried to make amendment in this act but face the same problem as Ex-President Banazir Bhatto. Anyhow he tried hard in making change in Blasphemy case reporting and proceeding . which is ray of hope for Christians.
